High throughput sequencing of polyA-RNAs in HIV/HCV coinfected patients before and after treatment with peg-Interferon/ribavirin.

A total of 28 coinfected patients were analyzed. These individual samples were collected at baseline and 24 weeks after achieving Sustained Virological Response (SVR). Patients at baseline showed HCV-chronic infection and were naïve to any HCV treatment (positive PCR and positive HCV antibodies). Patients were treated with peg-Interferon/ribavirin and 24 weeks after SVR, the second sample was isolated. Briefly, peripheral venous blood samples were collected in EDTA tubes, and Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) were isolated for subsequent total RNA extraction.
