Sequencing and analysis of a Legionella pneumophila clone

In a restricted area of Italy (Molveno - TN), many cases of travel associated Legionnaires disease occurred for over a period of 26 years, involving guests of different hotels in the area. To characterize the strain(s) responsible for these cases, several Legionella pneumophila samples were collected from patients and environments where the cases originated, were sequenced and analysed, investigating the phylogenetic relations with other known Legionella pneumophila genomes and their specific genomic features.
