Metagenome assembled genomes retrieved from Guanabara Bay sediment cores.. Guanabara Bay Sediment

The oxic to anoxic gradient present in marine sediments promotes high levels of microbial diversity. Yet due to a scarcity of studies much of this biodiversity remains unknown. We applied metagenomics to describe microbial communities throughout sediment cores of Guanabara Bay, a brackish tropical ecosystem with a history of massive anthropogenic impacts. Reconstruction of a metagenome assembled genomes led to the discovery of members of poorly charchterized clades.
