Investigating Gut Microbiota-Blood and Urine Metabolite Correlations in Early Sepsis-Induced Acute Kidney Injury: Insights from Targeted KEGG Analyses

Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is a life-threatening condition. This study employed metagenomics and metabolomics to analyze the gut microbiota and metabolites changes in nine patients, including four with SA-AKI and five without. We observed significant differences in gut microbiota composition and metabolic profiles between the groups, highlighting the crucial role of the gut-kidney axis in the early stages of sepsis. This connection could offer insights and potential targets for managing SA-AKI.
