We conducted a systematic, large-scale field sampling across Chinese grasslands, encompassing three major grassland ecosystem types: typical steppe, desert steppe, and alpine meadow. This sampling campaign comprehensively covered seed C:N:P stoichiometry of herbaceous plants. Across these ecosystems, we collected a total of 1652 seed samples belonging to 446 species from 50 plant families at 236 field sites.
