The emergence of a novel nosocomial outbreak-associated species of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacter cloacae complex

The Enterobacter cloacae complex (ECC) is composed of carbapenemase-producing strains responsible for nosocomial infections. However, it comprises more than 10 species or subspecies and 18 phylogenomic groups that are often not further classified. In this work, we report an outbreak of VIM-4 carbapenemase-producing ECC isolates (VIM4-ECC) including isolates belonging to a new species. here we report an outbreak occurred at French university hospital in Lyon, France.
