Body Appreciation and Quality of Life in BisexualBrazilian Women

Quality of Life (QOL) is a concept that reflects overall life satisfaction. Sexual minorities are groups that occupy a position of social vulnerabilityregardingstressors that negatively impact QOL. The objectives of this study are to investigatewhether the Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) and WHOQOL-Bref are valid instruments for bisexual Brazilian women (BBW) and to assess whether body appreciation influences the physical, psychological, and social domains related to the QOL of the BBW population. The research was conducted virtually via SurveyMonkey with a sample size of 100. Instruments included BAS-2, WHOQOL-Bref, and a sample characterization questionnaire. Results demonstrated that both instruments maintained their original factor structure and presented good internal consistency indexes. Moreover, body appreciation has a significant relationship with physical health, social relationships, and, most importantly, mental health. It is concluded that presenting positive attitudes and a more favorable relationship with the body are ways to improve aspects of BBW's quality of life.
