The Pseudo-PFLOW dataset was developed by the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, aiming to simulate the typical daily mobility patterns of approximately 130 million people across Japan. Constructed by combining travel survey data from limited urban areas with publicly available statistical and spatial data, this dataset does not reflect actual population movements but instead provides a pseudo-representation of typical daily behaviors. Users can utilize this dataset to identify trends in population movement within urban spaces, and apply it to multiple domains including urban planning, commercial development, and infectious disease transmission simulation. The dataset creation process involves employing machine learning and spatial interaction models to generate pseudo-population flow data, which is validated using mobile phone and travel survey data to ensure its accuracy and practicality.
