Dataset from: Healthcare professionals' experiences of encounters with family members exposed to violence perpetrated by patients with brain tumors: a qualitative study

This dataset contains transcripts from interviews in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. Semi‑structured interviews with twenty healthcare professionals across Sweden explored experiences of encountering family members exposed to violence by patients with a brain tumor. Participants described the need to recognize violence within a somatic context, navigate clinical and ethical complexities, and address systemic constraints. The overarching theme, piecing together a puzzle, captures how professionals integrate fragmented information, balance responsibilities, and coordinate support without clear guidelines. Domestic violence related to brain tumors can be difficult to detect in routine care and may have serious consequences for family members. Although it shares features with other forms of domestic violence, it poses distinct challenges, requiring responses that also consider disease‑related behavioral changes, treatment effects, and caregiving demands alongside family safety.
