Metabarcoding of dietary variation in Sable Island feral horses

Characterization of the Sable Island feral horse diet using amplicon sequencing of DNA extracts from horse fecal samples (trnL-UAA P6 loop chloroplast gene region using g region 5-GGGCAATCCTGAGCCAA-3 and h region 5-CCATTGAGTCTCTGCACCTATC-3 primers). Goals of this study were to characterize spatial and seasonal turnover in horse diets, and to test associations with the microbiome.
