This study aims to investigate microbial communities involved in the biodegradation of oil hydrocarbons and plastic waste (PET and PE) using organic carbon proxies. Environmental samples were collected from hydrocarbon-contaminated and plastic waste- exposed environments to identify key microbial taxa, enrich them and decipher metabolic pathways associated with degradation. This study would bring new insights on bioremediation and sustainable waste management.
