The de Sitter vacuum is KMS-periodic with period 2π/H. Combining this with Poisson spacetime discreteness at a scale ℓₛ shows that Λ equals its own minimal quantum fluctuation over one modular period if and only if ℓₛ ≈ 0.90 ℓ_P. Unbiased fluctuations would make de Sitter unstable; an entropic ratchet instead gives w_eff ≈ −0.984, Λ ∝ t⁻², and discrete, testable jumps in dark energy.
