The study aims at understanding the genome-wide transcriptomic response in the African malaria mosquito Anopheles gambiae to a perturbance in expression of the primary sex determination gene Yob. The study encompassed third instar larvae and approximately 24 h-old pupae of (i) a transgenic A. gambiae line (called 23) females with an ectopic Yob expression, phenotypically manifested by a female masculinization and death during late development, (ii) male progeny from a cross between males stably expressing single guide RNA targeting Yob and females expressing Cas9 in the germline, and as a control for comparisons (iii) the wild-type G3 strain mosquitoes of the same age. The RNA samples were sequenced using Illumina NovaSeq6000 platform.
