Description SummaryThe dataset includes water chemistry results for the following rivers and streams around the Danum Valley Field Center: 1) Segama River, 2) Palam Tambun River, 3) Sapat Kalisun River, 4) W8S5 or West Stream; and 5) the Steyshen Baru Stream. Key variables include the gauge height/water level, river discharge rate, and the various common metal ion concentrations found within river water. Water chemistry data was also collected during storm events at the W8S5/West Stream and Steyshen Baru Stream to determine how concentrations fluctuate.Notes for users:1) The Segama River water chemistry data set contains the concentrations of individual elements contained water samples collected from the river at the water level recorder by the suspension bridge between March 1988 and September 2001. 80 samples were taken between March 1988 and 10 samples in July 1999 and 21 in August and September 2001. Most samples have values for Ca, Mg, Na, Al, Si, and S, with K levels reported for 1989-1991. Gauge height and river discharge at time of collection are reported for 1988-91.2) The Palam Tambun River water chemistry data set contains 78 samples taken at the former gauging station between March 1988 and September 1991. The information for Ca, Mg, Na and Si is complete but K concentrations are only available from December 1988.3) The Sapat Kalisun River water chemistry data set contains 78 samples collected at a site 30 m upstream of the confluence with the Bau stream tributary from March 1988 to August 1991.
