Mapping Past Societies digital atlas

Mapping Past Societies is a digital atlas accessible at https://darmc.harvard.edu, providing highly detailed and researched maps of environmental, health, economic, political, archaeological and other data, through time. MAPS presents customizable maps, produced by researchers from all over the world who have collaborated, in some form, with the Initiative for the Science of the Human Past at Harvard (SoHP). The atlas began as a historical atlas of Europe during the pre-modern and ancient periods, and evolved into a global platform to explore the past to understand the present.
