Addresses

The address point layer consists of points placed within building footprints. Since 2001, the building footprints and driveways have been GPS'd, typically within an accuracy of around 3 feet. The address number is generated on a grid based system developed by MSAG Data Consultants in 1992. The address number is created by where it's driveway intersects the road it comes off of on the address grid. The E-911 Ordinance and E-911 Guidance documents address the process for assigning addresses. The "Type" field specifies whether the address point is residential, commercial, industrial, etc.
