The genome of Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides strain PO-67 was sequenced as part of the EVOLMYCO initiative funded by The French National Research Agency (ANR). This project aims to study the evolution of ruminant mycoplasmas with a special focus on horizontal gene transfer. Strain PO-67 from Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides was isolated in 1967 from cattle with contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in Pyrénées Orientales, France.
