On Morday evening, April 17, 1989, a vigorous surface cold front passed through the city of Cheyenne, Wyoming, between 9:45 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. MDT. In about an hour, the temperature plunged from the lower 50's to the upper 30's. Additionally, northerly winds immediately after frontal passage gusted as high as 40 knots for about a two hour duration.
