The metabolic features of rice bran fed to the sulfate-reducing bioreactors treating acid mine drainage (AMD) have been hardly clarified because of the complex microbiota within bioreactors. This study investigated the effects of feeding three possible metabolites of rice bran to the bioreactors on both reactor performances and microbial community structures. Experiments were conducted to compare reactor performances under twelve conditions of adding some concentrations of only corn steep liquor (CSL), lactate with CSL, ethanol with CSL, glucose with CSL, only ethanol and only glucose, and in six conditions, microbial community structures were also analyzed by Illumina sequencing analyses based on 16S rRNA genes.
