In laboratory experiments, we simulated environmental conditions comparable to deep seawater during the Deepwater Horizon discharge. This dataset reports metadata associated with 16S rRNA libraries deposited in the NCBI short read archive. This dataset was generated through laboratory microcosm experiments using amended water collected from a natural hydrocarbon seepage area at ~1200m depth.
