US City Finances during the Great Depression

This data set includes annual information on municipal finances, tax delinquency rates, housing construction costs and activity, and population and state income data. The period of focus was 1923-1936 (although tax delinquency data begin only in 1930). The aim of the project was to estimate the relationships between city finances and various measures of fiscal strain during the Great Depression. The source of the financial data were census reports entitled Financial Statistics of Cities. The delinquency data were gathered from a report by Dun and Bradstreet, Inc.
