SOCIAL MEDIA AT UNIVERSITY: DOES IT MOTIVATE STUDENTS TO STUDY OR DISTRACT

This article examines the impact of social media on university students’ academic life, focusing on whether it serves as a motivating educational tool or a source of distraction. With the rapid growth of digital technologies, social media has become deeply integrated into students’ daily routines. While it offers access to educational resources, collaboration opportunities, and motivational content, excessive and uncontrolled use may negatively affect academic performance, concentration, and mental well-being. This article analyzes both the positive and negative aspects of social media use in higher education and emphasizes the importance of purposeful and regulated usage.
