The invention relates to a method for applying a strip-type adhesive (11) on a narrow-surface coating material (12) by an application device (10)， comprising the steps of: feeding the narrow-surface coating material (12) to a conveying device (15) of the application device (10) and transporting the narrow-surface coating material (12) to an energy source (17) and heating at least one surface (18) of the narrow-surface coating material (12) by the energy source (17)， feeding the strip-type adhesive (11) and also the heated narrow-surface coating material (12) to a pressing-on device (21) and pressing the strip-type adhesive (11) onto the heated surface (18) and the narrow-surface coating material (12) by the pressing-on device (21)， and also relates to an application device (10) for applying a strip-type adhesive (11) to a narrow-surface coating material (12) and relates to a coating device (24) for coating sheet-like workpieces (13).
