XMM-Newton Observations of the Luminous NLS1 RX J0134.2-4258

We propose two 30ks XMMNewton observations of the luminous (L_0.12 keV4x10^44erg/s) NLS1 RX J0134.24528. This object has unusual optical and UVemissionline properties that are consistent with an Xray weak spectral energydistribution illuminating the broadline region. The proposed observations willprovide the first reliable measurement of alpha_ox. The EPIC observations willreveal Xray spectral complexity that is common in XMMNewton observations ofNLS1s. These observations will be used to determine the intrinsic Xray emissionthrough spectral variability analysis, and through comparison with both theXray and UV emissionline properties of a sample of NLS1s. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
