资源简介:
This Bowl is an example of Style III from Old Town (also known as Old Town Ruin) a Mimbres site in Luna County, southwestern New Mexico, near the southern end of the Mimbres River. Old Town is (along with Galaz) one of the largest Mimbres villages in the Mimbres Valley. It has hundreds of pit houses and surface rooms, with occupations dating from the Late Pithouse period through the Black Mountain Phase (ca. AD 550-1300). Old Town was very badly damaged by looters. Between 1989 and 2007 Darrell Creel (working through Texas A&M University and then the University of Texas, Austin, in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management) did extensive research at the site, work that is being comprehensively reported (Creel 2006). Numerous institutions own bowls found at Old Town. Creel, Darrell (2006) Excavations at the Old Town Ruin, Luna County, New Mexico, 1989-2003.
