Исландский язык [Icelandic language]

This entry entitled 'Исландский язык', i. e. 'Icelandic language' was prepared for the Big Russian Encyclopedia (Большая Российская Энциклопедия) and published in vol. 12 (2008).

Comment. In this encyclopedia entry, I refer to a number of sources and scholarly works in the versions available by the time of this publication or a bit earlier (ca. 2004 - 2008). In the "Related works" section at Zenodo, I occasionally refer to later versions of the same works including the English translation of Stefán Karlsson's essay "Tungan" (= [Icelandic] Language) made by Rory McTurk. Unlike Professor McTurk, I did not translate that essay by the great Icelandic philologist into my mother tongue, but I happened to review it in 1996 (listed in the "Related works"). I got an offprint (sérprentun) from Stefán in 1994. All disclaimers follow.
