The overall objective of this use case is to pro-actively publish data that is regularly requested via Environmental Information Regulation Requests (EIRRs). By supplying data about water quality samples taken in inland and coastal waters, we believe that we can reduce requests for localised raw water quality data. We hope the data can be used with other water quality samples to inform methods to clean up the UK’s rivers, lakes and seas. Data are provided from 2019 – 2025. Our samples are collected from rivers within our region and analysed at an accredited laboratory for the reported water quality determinands. The laboratory results are stored in a system and extracted from this system to provide this dataset. These data are used to help us understand the impacts our operations have on the environment and enable us to invest customers" money in the right places, such as upgrades at water recycling centres and storm overflows. We also use these data innovatively to build machine learning algorithms that provide water quality alerts at locations like Warleigh Weir. We are openly sharing and over the next few months these data will be further added to RiverHub to provide citizen scientists with information about the health of our rivers. Note: Two fields, ‘Determinand’ and ‘SampleLocationType’ use standard values to improve interoperability across Stream data sets and between company datasets.
