Theatre Attendance in Türkiye

This dataset includes the variables that are used to estimate a rational addiction model for Türkiye. All the data come from the Turkish Statistical Institute(TSI). The dependent variable is attendance per capita based on aggregate attendance data compiled by the TSI. The variables that restrict the sample period of our analysis are GDP per capita and population statistics at the province level. Population statistics were based on censuses conducted every 5 years before 2007. Starting with 2007, population statistics are kept electronically based on residency and updated annually. The dependent variable in our model, theatre attendance per capita, therefore can be computed from 2007 onwards even though total theatre attendance is available starting in 2000. One of the independent variables, the share of population with a high school education or more, is only available from 2008 onwards for the same reason.
