The salt (150mM NaCl) and osmotic stress (800 mM mannitol) response of the strain Mesotaenium endlicherianum SAG12.97 and Zygnema circumcarinatum SAG698-1b were investigated to obtain insights in the osmotic stress response of Zygnematophyceae, sister-lineage of the Embryophyta. The experiments were executed over the course of 25 hours, with samples taken at 0, 3, 6, 9, and 25 hours.
