A longitudinal transect of eight sampling stations along Lake Zurich (including the by a dam separated Upper Lake) was sampled on July 27-28, 2010. Water samples from three different depths representing the epi-, meta- and hypolimnion were taken to study microbial community composition in the context of spatial and physicochemical characteristics.
