Each T cell clone bears a unique T cell receptor (TCR) that recognises antigenic structures bound to HLA molecules. TCRs are heterodimers consisting of TCRalpha and TCRbeta chains that are generated by somatic recombination of multiple gene segments during the T cell development in thymus. The theoretical upper limit of human TCR diversity ranges from 10e15 to 10e20. We sequenced the thymic TCR repertoire obtained from eight paediatric thymus samples and four related blood samples.
