NRS-19106 | Register of Special Leases in the Land District of Tumbarumba [Wagga Wagga Local Land Board]

These registers contain a summary record of all Special Leases in the Land District of Tumbarumba, kept by the Wagga Wagga Local Land Board.An application for a Special Lease would be submitted to the Crown Land Agent, together with a deposit. Upon receipt of such an application, the Agent would forward the information to their Local Land Board, where the details of the application would be entered into this register. The entry would be given the same register number as that appointed by the Crown Land Agent.This tenure was introduced in 1884 as a means by which land could be leased for a number of miscellaneous purposes. Purposes for which these Special Leases could be granted included: residence, grazing and agriculture. The conditions for each Special Lease were determined by the Local Land Board, as was the annual rent.These registers record information such as the lease number, name and address of the applicant, date of the application, date of receipt of the application by the Board, description of the land applied for and the purpose for which the land is required. Recommendation by the board and reference to the minute book, also the date of Gazette, the term of the lease, and short particulars of conditions which necessitate inspection, as well as the annual rent offered.
