Toxodon teeth stable isotope revealing the Late Pleistocene to Early Holocene South American terrestrial paleoecosystem

This work within the Terrestrial Paleoecosystem Isotope Lab Practical module in summer 2017 delineates the δ13C & δ18O analysis protocol of inferior molar teeth fossil sample from Toxodon, a terrestrial mega herbivore mammalian species from South America that existed from the Late Pleistocene to the Early Holocene. The isotopic signatures are used to reconstruct the dietary habit and the surrounding environmental temperature.
