Diversity of Claviceps paspali in Uruguay

Claviceps paspali is a phytopathogen causal of the Ergot disease in Paspalum spp. This disease is important for dairy and beef production because it affects highly productive, drought resistant and persistent forage grasses such as P. dilatatum. Ergot results in seed loses by seed replacement with the sclerotia of the fungus and also the production of tremorgenic toxins by the fungus, toxic to feeding animals. The objetive of this study was to perform the sequencing, assembly and annotation of local isolates that belong to different lineages recently determined in the specie and to address genome-wide analysis for the identification of variation within the sequenced isolates.
