VPRS 533 Night Watch Book

This series is a Night Watch Book, in which officers were required to make entries when they worked night watch duty. Entries were made at the end of the shift. Routine information was recorded, such as the time of rounds, visits from the Governor and the Chief Warder, and any incidents which occurred during the officers shift (such as disturbances in the cells, visits to the hospital and the condition of prisoners there, the reception of prisoners during the night shift, and notes on prisoners under special observation procedures, as well as any maintenance issues discovered while on the shift).The former Unit 2 was appraised as Temproary by PROV in 1999, and transferred to Old Melbourne Gaol, an approved Place of Deposit.
