The patient with severe mental disorders in general hospital: a literature review

Comprehensive health care practices in mental health represent a challenge for health services, mainly regarding non-psychiatric care. The aim of this paper is to present a bibliographic review of the care delivered to patients with severe mental disorders who were admitted to general hospitals due to clinical and surgical complications. We conclude that the scientific literature on this theme point out that the madman is considered dangerous, violent and unpredictable. The article highlights that it is not enough to create general hospital beads for comprehensive care practices to patients with mental disorder, without promoting spaces to elaborate negative representations associated with madness.
