These volumes are arranged chronologically. The entry for each day gives patients' names, unit numbers, time of admission and a remarks column which usually details who sent the person to the centre (eg. relative, police or self). Some of the later volumes also contain added information such as patients' addresses, date of birth and number of previous admissions.
