A rotor for a heating unit comprises a rotor housing and a rotatable rotor shaft which is provided in the rotor housing and which is provided with attachments for influencing a material suspension which flows through the rotor housing and is to be heated. At least some of the add-on parts and / or additional surfaces provided on at least some of the add-on parts are designed and / or aligned with respect to the rotor shaft axis such that the inside diameter measured perpendicular to the rotor shaft axis of the material suspension ring that forms around the rotor shaft at a predeterminable operating speed of the rotor shaft is kept at a minimum value which is larger than the outer diameter of the rotor shaft.
