资源简介:
Survey work sufficient to provide ground control for topographical mapping was carried out. The area mapped included the part of North Victoria Land bounded by the Mawson Glacier in the south and extending to and including the Campbell Glacier and Wood Bay areas in the north. A total of 18 survey stations were occupied and of these, four were fixed by observations to NS and EW pairs of daylight stars. Three were stations occupied by the USGS 1961/62 tellurometer party. A reconnaissance geological survey was completed in the same area and described. Fresh water algae, mosses, lichens and seaweed were collected for the surveyed regions. Observations of birds, seals and invertebrates were made. About 35 soil localities were samples and investigated for yeasts, bacteria, fungi and algae and analysed for chemistry and mineralogy of the soils.
