Phylogeny of the subgenus Carex

Early-diverging lineages of Carex subg. Carex (Cyperaceae) are primarily distributed in East and Southeast Asia. However, the phylogenetic relationships and taxonomic treatment of these lineages remain unresolved, owing to their considerable morphological diversity and limited representation of Asian samples in previous DNA studies. In this project, we conducted a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of early-diverging lineages in subg. Carex, and revised the sectional circumscriptions.
