Sexual development in Phytophthora

The goal is to characterize gene expression during mating in Phytophthora infestans, the potato late blight pathogen. Mating results in sexual spores called oospores, which yield new genotypes of the pathogen and also represent a long-lived source of inoculum for diseases. Mating in P. infestans is also an interesting but little-studied developmental process.
