Historical Place Names in estate registers of the historical county of Tyrol, 14th/15th century

The dataset contains the annotated historical place names of the estate registers AT-TLA Urb. 74/3 (approx. 1390) & AT-TLA Urb. 1/2 (approx. 1406-1412) that are currently archived by the Tyrolean Regional Archives (TLA) in Innsbruck (AT). The research project ViTA (Vernetzungen im Tiroler Alpenraum - Manorial Networks in the Medieval Tyrol) created an interactive map focusing on the Starkenberg family and Friedrich IV of Habsburg that is linked to historical data that are used to answer a broad variety of questions, like the variation of settlements, levies, economic inequality or agricultural production. It provides information on the regional linguistic landscape (various types of places), climate history (changes in agricultural structures and output) or power relations (income, manorial rights), see https://www.uibk.ac.at/en/projects/vita/. The project was conducted at the University of Innsbruck and was funded from March 2023 to March 2025 by the Austrian Academy of Sciences as part of the Go!digital 3.0 programme.
