资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. This surviving volume in this series was commenced in late 1924 or early 1925, but enrolments of earlier date which were still current at that time have been entered retrospectively. The volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade and date of leaving the school are recorded. Provision is also made to record any occupation entered into on leaving school, but after the mid-1930’s this column is normally used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in two distinct sequences. Entries in each sequence are numbered continuously from the beginning of the volume until the temporary closure of the school at the end of 1951. After the re-opening of the school in 1953, the numbering of entries begins anew at the commencement of each school year, and the last two digits of the year-number are suffixed to each entry-number. Separate sequences for boys and girls are maintained until the end of 1955, but thereafter the numbering of entries forms one consolidated sequence.
