The soil comes from the soil used to feed Chinese Cordyceps sinensis. Soil collection was performed using a sterile shovel to excavate solid CC soil and a sterile spoon to gather samples, ensuring minimal contamination. The collection was done with care to maintain the integrity of the soil layers and microbial communities. Soil slices, 0-15 cm deep and 10 cm wide, were extracted. Eight plots were sampled as biological replicates.
