资源简介:
The purpose of our study was to assess the influence of oral microbiota on the development of pancreatic cancer. Our preliminary case-control studies showed that oral carriage of a periodontal pathogen is related to increased risk for pancreatic cancer. We hypothesize that the oral bacteria and fungi are associated with risk of pancreatic cancer. We conducted a prospective study nested in two large well-established U.S. cohorts to determine whether the oral bacterial and fungal microbiome is associated with subsequent risk of pancreatic cancer.]]>
The cases had histologically confirmed incident primary pancreatic adenocarcinoma (ICD–O–2 codes C25.0–C25.3, C25.7–25.9). Cohort nested control participants were selected by risk set sampling (1:1 frequency matched), by cohort, age (5-year), sex, race/ethnicity (White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, or Others), year of birth, and time since oral wash sample collection (in years). All cases and controls had valid consent, oral wash samples (pre-diagnostic for cases), and no prior personal history of any cancer.]]>
This study was conducted at New York University School of Medicine. The biospecimens were drawn from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial cohort, collected between 2000-2003 and the American Cancer Society (ACS) Cancer Prevention Study II (CPS-II) Nutrition cohort, collected from 2001-2002.]]>
