The Spatial differentiation of the Runoff coefficient is a comprehensive index that represents the influence degree of climate and hydrological factors and runoff formation of the underlying watershed. Comparing the spatial differentiation characteristics of simulated and observed runoff coefficients can be used to indicate the comprehensive simulation ability of the model to climate and hydrological elements. In this dataset, precipitation and runoff data from eight Earth system model tests of The Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project 3(PMIP3) over the past millennium and The Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) total Forced historical simulation were used. Combined with the daily total runoff data of 10km resolution in China from 1979 to 2000 provided by the National Earth system science data center and the grid data of monthly surface precipitation in China from 1979 to 2000 provided by China Meteorological data network, the runoff coefficient of the Yellow River Basin from 1979 to 2000 was calculated. By comparing the runoff coefficients calculated by the eight models, the spatial simulation ability of the models was further evaluated.
