Research data supporting "DSP-based ODN Characterization for Coherent PONs with High Splitting Loss"

The dataset provides the data supporting the research project of “DSP-based ODN Characterization for Coherent PONs with High Splitting Loss”. The data includes the GPR fitted error profile for loss localization in both simulations and experiments. The localization error distributions are also included. The simulation and experimental results of the bidirectional ODN characterization in terms of fiber attenuation coefficient estimation, loss localization, and quantification are illustrated. Also, the dataset contains the performance evaluation results via Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results were collected in MATLAB using the proposed ODN characterization method that sweeps the assumed loss position and minimizes error between measured and simulated signals using GPR. The experimental data were collected in the setup of either 30 or 60 GBd 16 QAM transmission with a 60 km fibre link and a high splitting loss using the full coherent receiver.
