Genetic characterization of SARS-CoV-2 strains circulating in Italy for surveillance of COVID-19

Here, we report the results of surveillance activity of SARS-CoV-2 sequencing activity during the COVID-19 pandemic in Lazio region. Samples collection and genomic characterization were carried out at the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (INMI) "Lazzaro Spallanzani", IRCCS, Italy . Such activity has been carried out to report new variant circulating in Italy, run a fine epidemiological investigation, and detect new possible mutations linked to pathogenic mechanisms in COVID-19.
