Suzhou Museum Augmented Reality (AR) Experience Survey

This study explores the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in reshap- ing the Suzhou Museum visitor experience, specifically, its role in stimulating en- gagement, interaction, and overall satisfaction. Using primary data derived from a mixed-methods approach, which combined quantitative and qualitative input from 420 museum visitors, it offers a general panorama of current AR integration and uses, as well as user preferences contributing positively and negatively to its im- plementation, by observing, documenting and reviewing visitor interactions with AR-enabled exhibits. The findings aim to strengthen the strategic development of more meaningful user-centered AR experiences while addressing challenges related to diversity, accessibility and technology familiarity. Overall, this work offers value to those designing and working on AR applications for museum-focused integrations that seek insight into the user experience and the importance of considering the broader demographics, technology proficiency levels, learning curve and intuitive- ness of interaction, among others.
