Phytopathology 83:1250-1245). The strain suppresses the ring nematode Mesocriconema xenoplax, a major factor predisposing peach trees to the Peach Tree Short Life (PTSL) syndrome (Westcott and Kluepfel. 1993. Phytopathology 83:1245-1249). The sequenced strain BG33R is a spontaneous mutant of BG33 with resistance to rifampicin.
